THE ONE NUMBER THAT MATTERS. The opening on this wrench measures 5.9 in across the inside. Measure the widest point of your filter sump and compare it to that figure. If your sump is 5.9 in or less, this wrench fits. If your housing is a slim 2.5 in under sink or reverse osmosis unit, this is the wrong size and you need the smaller CFS wrench instead.

WHY 4.5 INCH GETS CONFUSING. Big Blue housings are described by the cartridge they hold, which is 4.5 in in diameter. The sump around that cartridge is wider, and the wrench that goes around the sump is wider again. So a housing sold as 4.5 in needs a wrench with an opening close to 6 in. The 4.5 figure describes your cartridge, never the tool.
