CFS TWO PIECE FILTER SET - SEDIMENT AND CARBON BLOCK, 5 MICRON

Both cartridges for a two stage system in one box: one 5 micron sediment filter and one 5 micron coconut shell carbon block, each a standard 10 by 2.5 in.

TWO STAGES, TWO JOBS
The sediment filter goes in first. It holds back the sand, silt and rust that would otherwise load the carbon behind it, and it is the cartridge that does the visible work on well water and older lines.

The carbon block follows. Water is forced through a solid wall of carbon rather than channeling around loose granules, which is what reduces the chlorine taste and odor that make water unpleasant to drink and cook with. Running it behind the sediment stage is what makes it last, since a carbon cartridge doing sediment work exhausts on grit before its adsorption capacity is used.

A NOTE ON WHAT LCV MEANS
This pair is a standard sediment filter and a standard carbon block. It fits the same positions and does the sediment and the chlorine taste and odor work, but it does not carry that additional media. If those were the reason you bought the original set, match the media rather than the size.

WHAT IT REPLACES
The WP2-LCV positions, sold as 560088 and 560030, in the 415 RO and W560033 systems. Both cartridges are standard 10 by 2.5 in, so they also fit most other systems built around slim line housings.

WHEN TO CHANGE THEM
Both together, about every six months on typical municipal water and sooner on well water or a heavy sediment line. Run water through the new carbon block for a few minutes before use to clear loose carbon fines, which is normal on any new carbon filter.
