CFS RO Filter Set with 1/4 Inch NPT Inline for Ultima VII Ultima 7 5 Stage

• Sediment, carbon and a 1/4-inch NPT post carbon inline for Ultima VII and Ultima 7. Membrane not included.
• WHAT IS IN THE BOX - A sediment cartridge, a carbon cartridge and a 1/4-inch NPT threaded post carbon inline filter. Ordering them together covers the whole prefilter and polishing change in one box instead of chasing three separate part numbers when the water slows down or the taste changes.
• HOW THE STAGES WORK - The sediment cartridge goes first and holds sand, silt, dirt and rust. The carbon cartridge follows and reduces chlorine along with the tastes and smells that ride with it, which also protects the membrane, since chlorine shortens membrane life. The inline post carbon sits last in the line, after the membrane, and polishes the water on its way to the faucet.
• FITS ULTIMA VII, ULTIMA 7 AND GRO-050 SYSTEMS - Standard 10 in cartridges for the prefilter housings, with a 1/4-inch NPT threaded inline for the post-filter position. Check your inline fitting before ordering: 1/4-inch NPT is threaded pipe thread, not push-fit tubing, and the two are not interchangeable. The reverse osmosis membrane is not included in this set.
• WHAT IS INCLUDED AND WHAT IS NOT - This set covers the cartridge positions in a five stage system. The membrane is a separate part and is not in this box. The cartridges are standard 10 by 2.5 in, so the same set fits most other four and five stage reverse osmosis systems built around standard filter bowls rather than the Ultima VII alone.
• MATCH THE FILTER TO YOUR WATER - Service intervals depend on what is in your supply and how much water you run. Well water or heavy sediment typically means changing sooner; light municipal use typically stretches the interval. Many owners get about twelve months from a set. Watch your flow rate at the faucet rather than the calendar.

CFS FIVE STAGE RO FILTER SET - ANNUAL REPLACEMENT CARTRIDGES

The cartridges that change on a schedule in a five stage reverse osmosis system. All standard 10 by 2.5 in. The membrane is a separate part and is not in this box.

WHAT EACH STAGE DOES
The sediment filter goes first. It holds back the sand, silt and rust that would otherwise load the stages behind it.

The carbon stages follow. They reduce the chlorine taste and odor that make water unpleasant to drink and cook with, and they take chlorine out before the water reaches the membrane. Chlorine reaching a thin film composite membrane shortens its service life.

The polishing stage sits after the storage tank. Water that has been sitting in a bladder tank picks up a flat, stored character, and that stage takes it off on the way to the faucet.

WHAT IT FITS
The Ultima VII, and beyond it the 5SV, the WP5, the newer RO5, the newer Ultra-Micron and the older WRI five stage systems. Because all the cartridges are standard 10 by 2.5 in, the same set also fits most other four and five stage reverse osmosis systems built around standard filter bowls. If your system takes standard 10 in cartridges, this set drops in.

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED
The membrane. This set covers the cartridge positions only. On most systems the cartridges are a six to twelve month item and the membrane runs one to three years, which is why they are sold separately.

WHEN TO CHANGE THEM
All together, every six to twelve months depending on your water and how much the system runs. Run water through the new carbon cartridges for a few minutes before use to clear loose carbon fines, which is normal on any new carbon filter, and let the tank fill and drain once before you drink from it.
